Currently, I am interning for the Honorable Debbie Stabenow, United States Senator. This fall, I will be starting my senior year at Stoney Creek High School. I enjoy playing varsity tennis as captain for Stoney and spending time with my friends and family. At school, I love being involved as an officer of student council, National Honor Society, and Key Club. After high school, I hope to attend college and then medical school in order to live my dream of being a physician.
Although school life keeps me busy, my true passion is helping others. Prior to becoming Youth Committee Chairperson, I began volunteering for the Children’s Miracle Network with my family. In 2009, I enjoyed traveling around the country on the Children’s Miracle Network Champions Across America media tour with my sister as the state of Michigan’s “champion” to raise funds for pediatric rehabilitation. I plan to use my continuing experience to better serve the Rochester Area Neighborhood House.
This year I am thrilled to be the Junior Ambassador! Last year I was honored to serve as the first Youth Committee Chairperson and work with 2010-2011 Junior Ambassador, Kelsey Jackson. My goal is to raise awareness and fundraise for Neighborhood House in order to provide our neighbors in need with food, clothing, and the help needed to move towards self-sufficiency. Also, I hope to expand the Youth Committee and inspire teens to get involved by giving students an opportunity to impact their community.
I plan to blog about what the Youth Committee is doing throughout the year, so be sure to check back! Youth Committee members can always access current information between meetings through the Youth Committee Wiggio, Facebook, and Twitter.
I am very excited to work with Kaylee and look forward to a successful year!
